We had our Musical Theatre Showing on Saturday morning, and I was scared out of my mind.
Usually when I have to perform a song by myself I end up breaking out into hives, or vomiting, or crying hysterically.
But I didn't. And I'm proud of that.
So yes, I totally rush ahead of the accompaniment at a couple of spots. And yes, I'm flat in a couple of spots. And yes, my body does really awkward and horrible things that I regret in more than just a couple of spots.
But I'm proud of this, damn it.

To elaborate on my FB comment and to comment on your comments here:
*Congrats on not crying, vomiting or breaking out in hives.
*I did notice you rushing a bit, but for the song and the character choice, I think it works. And since you corrected yourself, it's not a noticable problem.
*I didn't notice the flatness. What I did notice is when you went up to the higher notes, your voice cracked more than once. This is because you were most likely scared and not pushing as much air through, and not supporting enough from your diaphram. Just keep an eye out it for next time (I have had this problem too and have been chastised on many occasions)
*I didn't notice any awkward or horrible things with your body. When you squatted a couple times? I liked that choice! A lot! I think it added a lot to the song rather than just standing there singing with your hands out (I do think that motion was a bit excessive... I prefered it when you used your full armspan, but again it's not something to do an entire song) I liked most all your physical choices because it made the song more expressive and gave the character life and showed real, frustrated feelings.
*All in all, I think you did great, and yes, you should be proud of this performance. Like I said on FB, you have chops. And the girl who sang this before in my community theatre production did not. Bravo, girl.
I think it was pretty good. Nicely done.
Well done! I could never do that, it must have been so nerve-wracking.
Watching it again - the cracks I was thinking of were from switching between your upper and lower voice registers. It's really hard to get fluidity between the two.
I can't really make any suggestions for it, I think it's a really personal thing how you master that skill. No voice teacher was ever able to help me, I had to do it on my own with experimentation of how I use my voice while singing, and where I place the resonance within my mouth.
Your resonence is in the back of your throat, which achieves the deep strong sounding voice. I've noticed for me, as I reach my break, I switch to a more forward resonant point on my hard pallat which softens the break to make it less noticable and more fluid.
I think you really just need to experimentat with your own voice to find out what works for you.
You rocked it. I love the power and control you have in the lower notes. And you did not look scared or nervous AT ALL. I am so, SO proud of you.
You did an awesome job! Conrats! I am sure there will be even better performances in the future!
You did a wonderful job! I never could have done that, I would have been a nervous reck. Congrats!
sounded good to me...
you seem taller than I thought
you have a deeper voice than I imagined
there were a lot of people in that room!
and just for kicks here's a video of me singing 8 years ago...

Wow Angela. :)
Whatever technical kinks were present, they don't cancel the fact that your stage charisma is powerful. I'm positive that you'll mature into a fantastic actor and shine while you're at it.
(I also had no idea your voice was so deep; it got total oomf!)
Brava!
FYI: You sound amazing!!! Granted, I'm no singing connoisseur, but still. great job! Beautiful voice.
you are AMAZING!! i completely break out in hives and go into panic mode when i have to sing solo, i feel ya on that one. LOVED IT!
Work it out, girl. It's awesome all of the time, but may I say that I love love LOVE your voice in its lower registers.
Dude I didn't know you were an alto!
Awesome. Internet rose bouquets from Los Angeles.
I agree with the other comments. Sounds good to me.
I was so shocked at you deep and rich your singing voice is. Keep singing - your voice is really unique. P.S. I'm an actor, too, and I, too, get absolutely, horribly nervous when I have to sing.
