43. I firmly believe that the more you know about theatre, the less you can enjoy it. You spend too much time analyzing all the elements of the form within the production, and you forget how to sit back and be entertained. You also get much pickier about what you’re willing to be entertained by. I think it’s probably true of music, art, dance, film, and other forms of the arts as well.
44. I don’t mind washing dishes by hand. It reminds me of washing paintbrushes, which reminds me of my scene painting class in college, and also of set building in high school. I associate it with the pleasant experiences, and therefore it becomes a pleasant task. It's also very relaxing to have your hands immersed in warm water. But I hate washing cups. Cups are tricky, and I’m never satisfied that they’re fully clean. At the moment, I don't have a dishwasher, so I don't have much of a choice in the matter. I have to wash the cups by hand... Because of this, I usually drink out of paper cups. I also dislike washing pots and pans, but as I rarely cook it's not really a big issue.
45. Do judges ever sit on juries? I was just wondering. I imagine that they’d still get called for jury duty. But do they ever actually get chosen? I suppose I’d nominate the judge to be the jury foreman… it only seems right. But that must suck for the judge. If I were a judge, I think I’d try to avoid that like the plague. But then, it would be even more frustrating to NOT be trying to run things if you’re used to running a courtroom. Of course, it’s possible that judges would be exempt from jury duty altogether because of their preexisting roles within the judicial system. But I think I've heard of lawyers being on juries... so wouldn't it be the same? Or not, because the lawyers aren't employed by the state? And what about District Attorneys? I must meet a judge and ask these questions, as they are obviously vitally important.
